I mean, I’ve eaten at plenty of hotel restaurants that feel like afterthoughts, but here it’s clearly the main event. The owners seem to source a lot of their ingredients locally, and you can taste the difference. Plus, being in Borsec means you’re surrounded by those famous mineral springs, so even the tap water tastes cleaner than what you get in most places. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – nothing fancy, but everything works and it’s spotlessly clean. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’re far enough from the main road that you don’t hear traffic, just the occasional distant sounds of the town settling down for the evening.

Here’s what really sold me on this place though: the staff actually seems to enjoy being there. Check-in was smooth, parking was easy (which, if you’ve driven around Romanian mountain towns, you know is not always a given), and when I asked about hiking trails nearby, they didn’t just hand me a generic brochure – they gave me actual directions to spots that weren’t crawling with tour groups.
