The place has this authentic mountain lodge vibe that feels genuinely Polish rather than trying to be some generic Alpine fantasy. When I walked into the lobby, there was this mix of wood paneling and local artwork that actually seemed chosen by someone who cares, not just ordered from a hotel supply catalog. The staff – well, they’re friendly enough, though don’t expect fluent English from everyone (which I kind of appreciated, actually). Check-in was straightforward, and they helped sort out parking without making a big production of it. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent bathroom with reliable hot water. Nothing fancy, but the mountain views from the upper floors are honestly spectacular, especially if you snag one facing toward Śnieżka.

Here’s what I really liked: the location puts you close enough to walk to the main Karpacz attractions – the Wang Church is maybe ten minutes on foot, and you can easily get to the cable car station – but you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds right outside your window. Plus, there’s this great little trail that starts practically behind the hotel if you want to do some hiking without driving anywhere. The breakfast was surprisingly good too, with actual local specialties mixed in with the standard European hotel fare. I stayed during shoulder season in late spring, and it was pretty quiet, though I imagine it gets significantly busier during ski season and summer hiking months. The 7.8 rating seems about right – it’s not going to blow you away, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re looking for a solid base in Karpacz that won’t break the bank and gives you that authentic Sudeten Mountains experience, Pod Stokiem is definitely worth considering.
