Osonnya Karpaty RESORT MEDICAL & SPA
I spent a few days at Osonnya Karpaty RESORT MEDICAL & SPA last spring, and it turned out to be a real gem among Carpathian resorts. This four-star hotel is located in Lastivka village, near Skhidnitsa, and the drive from the main road takes about ten minutes on a fairly winding road — but it’s worth it. Parking is free, there’s always space available, though it’s probably busier in summer. Check-in was quick, the staff is friendly and speaks Ukrainian (which isn’t always a given at hotels of this level).
The rooms are spacious and clean, with great mountain views — I had a room on the second floor, and the morning sunrises were incredible. The furniture isn’t the newest, but everything is functional, Wi-Fi works reliably even on the balcony. The SPA area is truly impressive: there’s a pool, sauna, several types of massage (I’d recommend booking in advance). The medical part is also top-notch — had a few treatments for my back after hiking in the mountains, very helpful. Breakfasts are varied, lots of local products, though the coffee could be better. In the evenings it sometimes gets a bit noisy from entertainment in the lobby, but you can barely hear it from the room.
There’s plenty to explore around — forest trails, mineral water springs a kilometer’s walk away, and you can reach Skhidnitsa itself in half an hour at a leisurely pace. In winter it’s probably even better — ski slopes are nearby, and the SPA is especially pleasant after the cold. Overall, I highly recommend it for those looking for peaceful relaxation with wellness elements, but don’t expect metropolitan service — the atmosphere here is different, more homey.
Carpathian hotels showcase the perfect blend of mountain hospitality and modern comfort, with many offering wellness services and genuine Carpathian cultural experiences.
