Nowa – Ski SPA Hotel

You know what caught me off guard about Nowa? Walking up to this place on Mostowa Street, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot in Karpacz – but then you step inside and realize they’ve really figured something out here. The lobby has this warm, mountain lodge feel without being all kitschy about it, and the staff actually seemed to remember my name after the first day (which, let’s be real, doesn’t happen everywhere).

The whole ski-spa combo thing actually works here – I mean, after spending a morning on Śnieżka or hitting the slopes at the nearby ski areas, coming back to their spa facilities felt like exactly what my legs were begging for. The sauna’s nothing fancy, but it’s properly hot and they keep it clean, which is honestly all I care about. What I really appreciated was how quiet the place gets in the evenings. You’re close enough to the main drag that you can walk to restaurants and bars, but far enough back that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. Parking was surprisingly easy too – they’ve got their own spots, which saves you from hunting around those narrow mountain streets.

Here’s the thing that stuck with me though: the breakfast spread was way better than it had any right to be for a mid-range hotel. Fresh bread, local meats and cheeses, and they actually had real butter instead of that margarine nonsense. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing Instagram-worthy, but the beds are solid and the bathrooms are modern enough. I stayed during shoulder season in late March, so it was pretty quiet, but I imagine summer gets busier when the hiking crowds roll in. The location really is perfect for exploring the Karkonosze mountains, and honestly, with a 9-star rating, I can see why people keep coming back. It’s just one of those places that does the basics really well without trying to be something it’s not – which in a tourist town like Karpacz, is actually pretty refreshing.
