You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Nosalove Apartamenty when I first walked up to the building on Balzera street – I mean, it’s tucked away in this quiet residential area that honestly feels more like where locals actually live rather than tourist central. But that turned out to be exactly what made it special. The building itself has this understated Polish charm, nothing flashy, just solid and welcoming in that way that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something the guidebooks haven’t ruined yet.

The location is actually brilliant once you get your bearings. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from Krupówki (that’s the main tourist drag for anyone who hasn’t been to Zakopane), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the late-night crowds stumbling back from the bars. I loved being able to grab fresh oscypek from the vendors on Krupówki during the day, then retreat to this peaceful spot where you can actually hear yourself think. The Tatra mountains peek through between the buildings if you know where to look – not a full panoramic view, mind you, but enough to remind you why you came to this part of Poland in the first place. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven in Zakopane during peak season will tell you is basically a minor miracle.

What really sold me on this place was how the staff actually seemed to live and breathe Zakopane – they’d casually mention which hiking trails were less crowded that week, or where to find the best zurek that wasn’t completely overpriced. The apartments themselves are clean and functional (honestly, the kitchen setup is better than my place back home), and while they’re not going to win any design awards, they have everything you actually need. The heating works well, which matters more than you’d think if you’re visiting outside summer months – those mountain nights get properly cold. I did notice some street noise in the mornings, but we’re talking delivery trucks and people heading to work, not party noise, so it felt more authentic than annoying. The 9-star rating makes total sense when you consider you’re getting genuine local insight, solid value for money, and a base that lets you experience Zakopane like someone who actually belongs there rather than just passing through with a camera.
