Nova Lesna isn’t exactly a household name, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. You’re in proper Slovak countryside here, and these apartments get that balance right between having what you need without trying to be something they’re not.

The building itself is straightforward – no fancy lobby or anything like that, but everything works properly and the check-in was refreshingly simple. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re not isolated from everything. The apartments are properly equipped (and I mean actually equipped, not just a hotplate and prayers). The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, which – let’s be honest – is sometimes asking a lot in smaller Slovak towns. Parking wasn’t a nightmare either, which anyone who’s driven around European towns will appreciate. The whole setup feels like someone actually thought about what travelers need rather than what looks good in photos.

Here’s the thing about this area though – Nova Lesna sits in that sweet spot where you can actually get to the Tatras without the insane crowds of Zakopane or the prices of the main resort towns. The locals I chatted with (my Slovak is terrible, but people are patient) genuinely seemed to appreciate that visitors were discovering their little corner. You’ll find proper Slovak food nearby, not tourist versions, and the hiking access is honestly incredible once you know where you’re going. I spent way more time here than planned because it felt like staying somewhere real. The 9-point rating makes complete sense – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises, and sometimes that’s worth more than all the marble lobbies in the world. If you want authentic Slovakia without roughing it, this place gets it right.
