Sure, it’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or a concierge in a fancy uniform, but honestly? The 9.4 rating makes complete sense once you settle in. The walls are thick enough that you don’t hear every conversation in the hallway, which – let me tell you – is not always a given in these historic buildings.

What really won me over was how they’ve managed to keep the character of the old building while making it actually comfortable for modern travelers. The heating works properly (crucial if you’re visiting in winter), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and there’s something really satisfying about falling asleep in a place that’s been sheltering people for centuries. Plus, and this is key if you’re planning to explore, you can walk to the Black Church in about three minutes, hit the main square even faster, and when you’re tired of tourist crowds, you just… go home. No long walks back to some hotel district, no expensive taxi rides. You’re right there, in the heart of it all, but in a way that feels authentic rather than touristy. I’d definitely stay here again – it’s one of those places that gets the balance right between old-world charm and actually being a good place to sleep.
