Mayak Chalet Resort Mykulychyn is a real gem in the Carpathians that pleasantly surprised me during my winter trip. This four-star hotel is located in Mykulychyn on Kosmonavtiv Street, and while the address might sound a bit cosmic, it’s actually a very cozy place among the mountains. Parking here is free — a big plus, especially when you arrive with skis on your car roof. Check-in went smoothly, the staff is friendly, though not everyone speaks English (but that actually adds to the authenticity).
The chalet-style rooms really live up to the name — wooden beams, warm colors, and most importantly — excellent heating, which is critically important in winter in the mountains. From my room‘s window, I had a view of snow-covered slopes, and in the morning I could watch the sun illuminate the Carpathian peaks. The bathroom is compact but has everything necessary. Wi-Fi works reliably — I tested it myself while working online for several hours. Breakfasts are quite varied, with traditional Ukrainian dishes alongside European options, though the coffee could be stronger (but that’s just nitpicking).
The location is perfect for active vacation lovers — it’s close to Bukovel’s lifts, and in summer there should be wonderful hiking opportunities here. Evenings at the hotel are quite peaceful, allowing good rest after a day on the slopes. Sometimes you can hear neighbors returning late, but it’s not critical — the walls are thick enough. The 8.0 out of 10 rating is absolutely deserved, and I would definitely return here again, perhaps in summer to see these mountains dressed in green.
Travelers should book a hotel in Bukovel at least two months ahead for major events such as ski competitions and mountain festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular mountain attractions.
