Honestly, Mar&Vi caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know what I wasn’t expecting? Finding such a well-run three-star place tucked away in the tiny village of Lesná, just outside Batizovce. I mean, this area is basically the gateway to the High Tatras, so you’d think everything would be either overpriced tourist traps or basic mountain lodges — but this place actually strikes a nice balance. The attention to detail here is refreshing, and it’s clear the management takes pride in maintaining high standards.

Location & Getting Around

The location is honestly brilliant if you’re planning to explore the Tatras. You’re close enough to all the hiking trails and ski areas, but far enough from the crowds that you can actually relax. What I really appreciated was the free parking right on site — and trust me, that’s not something you take for granted around here, especially during peak season. The village itself is pretty quiet, which couples seem to love (apparently they rate it 8.5 out of 10), and I can see why. The proximity to natural attractions makes it an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts.

The Room Experience

My room was clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything worked properly. The beds are actually decent quality — I’ve stayed in plenty of mountain hotels where you feel every spring, but this wasn’t one of them. The bathroom was modern enough, good water pressure, and they keep the place well-heated, which matters when you’re coming back from a day in the mountains. There’s something to be said for a place that just gets the basics right without trying to be something it’s not. The furnishings are practical and well-maintained throughout.

The restaurant serves solid Slovak food — nothing revolutionary, but well-prepared traditional dishes that hit the spot after hiking. I had their goulash one evening and it was exactly what I wanted. The staff actually knows the area well, so they’re good for recommendations about trails or local spots. It’s not a resort with tons of amenities, but they focus on what matters: good food, clean rooms, and helpful service. The dining experience reflects the hotel’s philosophy of quality over pretense.

You’re positioned perfectly for day trips to Spiš Castle, the Belianska Cave, or any number of hiking trails in the High Tatras.
