I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Majerczyk House on that narrow street in Stasikówka – honestly, the address looked like something you’d punch into GPS and hope for the best. But this place completely surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked into this quiet residential area in Poronin, which is actually perfect because you’re close enough to Zakopane’s madness (maybe 15 minutes by car) but far enough away that you can actually hear yourself think. The parking situation is way better than anything you’ll find in the town center, and trust me, during ski season that’s worth its weight in gold.

What really got me was how the owners have managed to nail that sweet spot between feeling like a proper hotel and staying in someone’s really nice home. The rooms have this authentic mountain feel – I mean, you can tell they put thought into the furnishings instead of just ordering everything from some hotel supply catalog. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this stuff), and the bathrooms are modern without being sterile. There’s this great morning light that comes through the windows, especially if you get one of the rooms facing the Tatras. Speaking of mornings, breakfast is where this place really shines – it’s clearly homemade stuff, not those sad continental spreads you get at chain places. The coffee’s strong enough to wake the dead, which you’ll appreciate if you’re planning to tackle any of the hiking trails nearby.

Here’s the thing about the location that took me a while to figure out – Poronin is actually perfectly positioned for exploring the whole region without dealing with tourist crowds every time you step outside. You’ve got easy access to Bukowina Tatrzańska if you’re into the thermal baths scene, and the hiking trails around Rusinowa Polana are literally a stone’s throw away. The hosts seem to actually know the area (shocking, I know) and can point you toward trails that aren’t completely overrun with tour groups. I stayed here in late spring when the weather was still unpredictable, and it was nice having a cozy base to retreat to when the mountains decided to dump rain on us. The whole place has this relaxed vibe – you’re not walking on eggshells worried about making noise or tracking in a bit of mud from your boots. Honestly, with a 9 rating, I was half-expecting it to be overhyped, but it lives up to the buzz. If you’re looking for that authentic Tatra experience without the tourist trap pricing and crowds, this is your spot.
