I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and grab a coffee at one of those cute terrace cafés that locals actually frequent.

The thing about staying right on the main square is that you get this incredible front-row seat to how the city breathes. Mornings are surprisingly quiet – just the sound of shop owners hosing down their storefronts and maybe some pigeons being dramatic. But by afternoon, especially on weekends, there’s this gentle buzz of tourists and locals mixing together. The apartments themselves are pretty straightforward (we’re talking functional, not fancy), but honestly, who wants to stay inside when you’ve got the Black Church just a two-minute walk away? I actually loved that I could duck back upstairs for a quick nap between exploring the citadel and dinner – something you definitely can’t do if you’re staying out in the newer parts of town.

What really sold me on this place was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their stuff about the area. The woman at check-in didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – she actually marked where to find the best mici (those little grilled meat rolls) and warned me that the cobblestones get slippery when it rains. Small details, sure, but that’s the kind of local insight that makes a difference. The 7.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but it nails what matters most: location, cleanliness, and that slightly worn-in comfort that makes you feel like you’re staying in someone’s well-loved apartment rather than a sterile hotel room. Fair warning though – if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs for Friday and Saturday nights when the square gets a bit livelier. But honestly? I kind of enjoyed falling asleep to the distant sound of people enjoying themselves. It felt authentically Romanian somehow.
