The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully done – everything works properly, the beds are actually comfortable (not just hotel-comfortable), and there’s enough space to spread out your gear without tripping over your hiking boots every morning. The bathrooms have solid water pressure too, which might sound trivial until you’ve spent a day on the trails and desperately need a proper shower. Parking is right there, no hunting around side streets or paying extra fees, and they’ve got this covered area that’s perfect when it’s snowing hard – trust me, you’ll appreciate that in January.

What really sets Machajówka apart though is how it feels like the owners understand what travelers actually need. The breakfast isn’t some fancy buffet that looks impressive but leaves you hungry an hour later – it’s proper, filling food that’ll fuel you for a day in the mountains. There’s a common area where you can plan your routes or just decompress with other guests, and the whole vibe is relaxed rather than stuffy. I mean, with a 9 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but this place earns every point of that score through consistency rather than flashy amenities. The location on Środkowa street means you’re close enough to walk to restaurants and shops, but you’re not dealing with the noise and crowds of the main drag. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself extending your stay because you just don’t want to leave – and in a destination like the Tatras where you have serious competition from bigger hotels and flashier resorts, that says something pretty significant about what they’re doing right here.
