Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Long Street Hotel on Str. Lunga, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages. The building itself sits right in the heart of Brașov’s newer residential area, which means you’re getting that authentic Romanian neighborhood vibe without the tourist crowds breathing down your neck every five minutes.
What really got me was how the staff actually seemed to care about what they were doing. Check-in was smooth (no fumbling around with key cards for ten minutes), and the woman at the front desk knew exactly which tram routes would get me to the Old Town fastest. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake, you know? The rooms are clean – I mean really clean, not just “we changed the sheets” clean – and while they’re not going to win any design awards, they’ve got everything you actually need. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and honestly, after walking around Brașov’s cobblestone streets all day, that matters more than fancy throw pillows. There’s this nice quiet thing happening too, even though you’re on a pretty busy street. Must be decent windows or something.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – the location is actually perfect if you know what you’re doing. You’re about a 15-minute walk to the main square, which sounds like a hike but it’s totally doable and you pass through some genuinely interesting neighborhoods along the way. Plus, there’s a little grocery store literally two doors down (the kind where the owner nods at you after the second day), and you can grab fresh bread from the bakery across the street every morning. The smell alone will wake you up better than coffee. Parking was surprisingly easy too – there’s space right out front most of the time, which anyone who’s driven in European city centers will tell you is basically a miracle. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, so I can’t speak to summer crowds, but the whole area felt relaxed and lived-in rather than touristy. The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you realize this place just does the basics really, really well without trying to be something it’s not. It’s the kind of spot where you end up staying longer than planned because it feels… comfortable, I guess? Not flashy, not Instagram-perfect, just solid.
