It’s one of those 3-star spots that punches way above its weight class, which explains that solid 8.7 rating.

The location is actually pretty clever. Chopina 47-49 puts you close enough to the main drag that you can walk to restaurants and that little cable car station (locals call it the kolejka), but far enough up the hill that you escape most of the tourist chaos. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and the mornings were incredibly quiet – just birds and the occasional mountain biker heading up the trails. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they’re clean and warm, which matters more than you’d think when those mountain temperatures drop at night. What really impressed me was how the staff actually knew the hiking trails – not just the obvious ones everyone talks about, but the smaller paths that connect to the Czech border. The woman at reception drew me a little map showing how to get to this viewpoint that doesn’t show up in guidebooks.

Here’s the thing about staying in Karpacz – you’re either here for the mountains or you’re doing it wrong, and Leśna Kąpiel gets that. The breakfast setup isn’t elaborate, but it’s hearty Polish food that’ll fuel you for a day of hiking. They’ve got parking (which isn’t a given in this town), and the Wi-Fi actually works if you need to upload those summit photos. I appreciated that they don’t try to be something they’re not – no fake luxury touches or overpriced spa treatments. Instead, you get a solid mountain hotel run by people who understand why you came to this corner of Poland in the first place. The whole area gets pretty busy during ski season and summer hiking months, but even then, the hotel maintains this relaxed, almost family-run atmosphere. If you’re looking for a base camp rather than a destination in itself, this is your spot.
