You know what really struck me about Księżycowe Apartamenty SPA when I first pulled up to Oberconiówka 24? The name translates to “Moon Apartments” and honestly, it actually fits – there’s something almost ethereal about the way this place sits tucked into the Zakopane landscape. I mean, you’re still close enough to hear the buzz from the main tourist strips, but far enough up this quiet residential street that you feel like you’ve found something locals might actually book for a staycation.
The Golden Villas folks clearly put some thought into this one. These aren’t your typical cramped hotel rooms – we’re talking proper apartments with enough space to actually unpack your suitcase (revolutionary concept, I know). The spa element isn’t just marketing fluff either; they’ve got this surprisingly well-appointed wellness area that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. What I really appreciated was how they managed to keep that cozy Tatra mountain vibe without going overboard on the folksy wooden everything that half of Zakopane seems obsessed with. The apartments feel modern but not sterile, if that makes sense – like someone’s stylish aunt decided to rent out her mountain place.
Parking was actually decent, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Zakopane during peak season will tell you is basically winning the lottery. The location works really well if you want to explore beyond just the main Krupówki strip – you’re positioned perfectly for those early morning hikes up to Morskie Oko or the cable car to Kasprowy Wierch without having to fight through the town center traffic. I stayed during shoulder season in October and the whole area had this lovely quiet energy, though I imagine it gets considerably busier when the ski crowds descend. The 8-point rating feels about right – it’s genuinely good without being perfect, and the 4-star designation isn’t one of those inflated things you sometimes see. There were a few minor hiccups (the WiFi got a bit spotty in the evenings, and the check-in process took longer than expected), but nothing that would stop me from recommending it. Actually, I’d probably book it again myself, especially if I was planning one of those longer Zakopane stays where you want a proper base rather than just a place to crash between mountain adventures.
