You know what really struck me about KOA – Davino Aparthotel? It’s one of those places that actually delivers on what it promises, which – let’s be honest – doesn’t always happen with three-star properties. Located on Strada Nicopole, it sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to Brașov’s medieval center to walk there (about 15 minutes if you don’t mind a bit of uphill), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds right outside your window.
The aparthotel setup is perfect if you’re planning to stay more than a couple nights. I mean, having a proper kitchenette changes everything – you can actually grab some fresh bread from the local bakery down the street and make your own breakfast instead of paying hotel prices. The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious, and honestly, they’ve done a good job with the renovations. Everything feels clean and modern without being sterile, if that makes sense. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case), and the Wi-Fi works throughout the building, which is crucial when you’re trying to plan your next day exploring the Carpathians.
What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the area. When I asked about getting to Râșnov Citadel, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic brochure – he actually explained the bus schedule and mentioned that Tuesday mornings are way less crowded. That kind of local insight is gold when you’re traveling. The building itself is well-maintained, and parking is included, which saves you the headache of finding a spot in Brașov’s increasingly busy streets. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and the heating worked perfectly (trust me, mountain evenings get chilly fast). The only minor thing I’d mention is that the elevator can be a bit slow during check-in/check-out times, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for buildings in this part of Europe. With a 9.3 rating, it’s clear other travelers have had similarly positive experiences – and after spending four nights there, I can see why people keep coming back.
