Карпатський Готель Олександрія turned out to be a real gem in Mykulychyn — a place I’m returning to for the third time now. This three-star hotel is located on Hrushevskoho Street, and while the name sounds grand, the atmosphere here is very homey and cozy. The staff speaks both Ukrainian and English, which was a pleasant surprise, and check-in took five minutes max. Parking is free, which isn’t always a given in the Carpathians — there’s enough space even during peak vacation season.
The rooms are clean with nice mountain views (definitely ask for an east-facing room — the morning sunrises are incredible). The furniture looks a bit dated, but everything works fine, and the beds are comfortable enough after a full day of hiking. WiFi works reliably even on the third floor where I stayed last time. The only thing that might bother you is the wooden floors that creak when neighbors return late at night (but that’s more the charm of an old building than a real problem).
Breakfast is served until 10:00 AM, and while the selection isn’t huge, everything is fresh and tasty — especially the local cheeses and honey. The owners are very friendly and always ready to recommend hiking routes or the best spots for photos. It’s quieter in winter, but livelier in summer with family groups. Overall, this is the kind of place you want to return to — not perfect, but with soul and character, which is worth a lot these days.
