Карпатська Полонина turned out to be a real gem during my recent vacation in the Carpathians. This four-star hotel is located on Partizanska Street in Yaremche, and although I was initially a bit worried about the street name (doesn’t sound very touristy), the location proved to be ideal. Parking is free — a huge plus, especially in summer when Yaremche is packed with tourists. Check-in went smoothly, the staff is friendly, though not everyone speaks English (but this rather adds authenticity).
The rooms are clean and cozy, with beautiful mountain views — the morning sunrises are simply incredible, especially in autumn when the foliage is golden. Wi-Fi works reliably (tested it for work), hot water is always available, which isn’t always guaranteed in mountain hotels. The only downside — the walls are a bit thin, so if neighbors are noisy, it can get loud. But in winter this is less of a problem since there are fewer tourists. The hotel restaurant serves decent home-style cuisine — the borscht and vareniki are particularly good, though prices are a bit inflated (but that’s standard for tourist spots).
What I liked most was the location — it’s about a fifteen-minute leisurely walk to downtown Yaremche, and it’s very close to Probiy waterfall. The owners clearly know their business: there’s ski storage in winter, they organize hiking trips in summer, and in autumn (the best season, in my opinion) they help with routes to mushroom picking spots. The 8.0 rating is well deserved — not perfect, but very decent for the money. I’ll definitely return, maybe even for New Year’s.
