The whole setup feels more like staying at a Romanian aunt’s house than a commercial property, which honestly explains that perfect 10 rating.

What really sold me was the location – I mean, yes, it’s remote, but that’s exactly the point. You’re tucked into the Carpathian foothills where the air still smells like pine and wood smoke, especially in the evenings. The nearest proper town is about a 15-minute drive, but there’s something deeply satisfying about waking up to complete silence except for the occasional cow bell (and I mean that in the best way possible). If you’re planning to explore the salt mines – which, let’s face it, is probably why you’re in Ocna de Sus in the first place – you’re perfectly positioned without dealing with any tourist crowds. Plus, the parking situation is refreshingly simple: just pull up wherever makes sense. No meters, no permits, no stress. The rooms themselves are clean and functional with that solid, no-nonsense Romanian approach to hospitality. Sure, it’s technically a 3-star place, but the attention to detail feels more personal than what you’d get at some fancy chain hotel where nobody knows your name.
