Ka’yana Apartments – Restored Luxury in the Heart of the Old Town, near Black Church, Council Sq
You know what struck me first about Ka’yana? The fact that someone actually managed to restore these old Brașov buildings without making them feel like a museum. I mean, you’re literally on Strada Mureșenilor – which honestly sounds more intimidating than it is – and the moment you step inside, there’s this perfect balance between “wow, this place has history” and “thank god there’s proper heating and WiFi.”
The location is honestly ridiculous in the best way possible. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from the Black Church (and I’m talking a lazy three minutes, not power-walking), and Council Square is right there when you want to grab coffee or just people-watch. But here’s the thing locals know – Strada Mureșenilor itself is actually pretty quiet, especially in the evenings. You get all the benefits of being in the thick of Old Town without the constant tourist chatter under your windows. The apartments themselves feel genuinely luxurious, not that fake “luxury” you sometimes get where they just slap marble everywhere and call it fancy. The restoration work is actually thoughtful – they kept the character of these old buildings but added modern touches that make sense. Good water pressure (seriously, this matters more than people admit), proper insulation, and the kind of kitchen setup where you could actually cook if you wanted to, though honestly with all the restaurants nearby, why would you?
What really sets this place apart is how it fits into the neighborhood. You’re not staying in some isolated hotel bubble – you’re actually living in Brașov for however long you’re there. There’s a little grocery store about two blocks down if you need basics, and if you’re up early enough, you can watch the locals heading to work before the day-trippers arrive. The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not perfect – I mean, parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, and some of the street noise picks up during festival season – but it’s the kind of place where the positives so outweigh any minor inconveniences that you find yourself already planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out. The staff actually knows the area too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places just hand you a generic tourist map and wish you luck.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
