You know what caught me off guard about iziHorec? The name sounds a bit corporate, but this place actually feels like someone’s thoughtfully designed mountain retreat that just happens to rent out rooms. I’ve stayed in plenty of Tatranská Lomnica spots over the years, and most of them are either sterile ski lodges or overly rustic cabins trying too hard to be authentic. This one hits that sweet spot in between.
The apartment setup is honestly perfect for the area – I mean, when you’re planning day hikes up to Skalnaté Pleso or dealing with unpredictable Tatra weather, having a proper kitchenette and separate living space makes all the difference. The apartments themselves have this clean, Nordic-inspired design that doesn’t fight with the mountain views (and trust me, you’ll want to keep those curtains open). What I really appreciated was the attention to practical details – good WiFi that actually works when you need to check trail conditions, blackout curtains for those summer nights when it stays light until nearly 10 PM, and proper heating that kicks in fast during shoulder season. The whole building feels solid and well-maintained, which isn’t always a given in this part of Slovakia.
Location-wise, you’re right in the heart of Tatranská Lomnica without being stuck in the tourist chaos near the cable car station. It’s maybe a seven-minute walk to the main lift – close enough that you’re not dealing with shuttle buses or expensive taxi rides, but far enough that you’re not hearing the morning crowds gathering at 6 AM. The grocery store is practically around the corner, which is clutch if you’re doing the apartment thing properly. And honestly, being on that particular stretch puts you in easy walking distance of some of the better local restaurants – not just the touristy spots that everyone hits, but places where you might actually hear Slovak being spoken at the next table over. The 9-star rating makes sense once you spend a night or two here; it’s not flashy or trying to impress anyone, but everything just works the way it should. Staff knows the area well enough to give you real hiking advice, not just generic brochure recommendations. I’d definitely book this again, especially if I was planning to stay more than a couple nights or traveling with people who appreciate having some space to spread out.
