I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Ioana Apartment on Strada Cerna – honestly, the street name had me thinking it might be in some touristy area, but it’s actually tucked into this quiet residential part of Reşiţa that feels genuinely local. The building itself is understated in that Eastern European way, nothing flashy from the outside, but once you’re inside, you realize someone really cares about this place.

What struck me immediately was how clean everything was – I mean, like your Romanian grandmother’s house clean. The apartment has this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake, with solid furniture that doesn’t wobble when you set your coffee down and windows that actually open properly (you’d be surprised how rare that is). The kitchen is small but functional, and I appreciated that they stocked it with basics like decent coffee and real plates, not those flimsy tourist rental dishes. The bathroom water pressure was surprisingly good too, which honestly made my whole stay better after some long days exploring the Carpathians nearby.

Reşiţa itself is sort of an industrial city that most people pass through on their way to the mountains, but staying here gave me a chance to see how Romanians actually live outside the tourist zones. There’s a decent restaurant about two blocks down – can’t remember the name, but it’s the one with the blue awning – and the local market on Saturday mornings is worth getting up early for. Parking was never an issue right on the street, and I felt completely safe walking around at night. The host, Ioana, was responsive without being pushy, and she actually gave me directions to some hiking trails that weren’t on any tourist maps I’d seen. For the price point, especially considering that 9.7 rating isn’t just hype, this place delivers exactly what you want from a three-star stay – comfort, cleanliness, and a genuine local experience without any pretense.
