This little gem sits right where you need it to be if you’re serious about exploring the Bucegi Mountains, and I mean literally – the cable car station is practically next door, which is why the street’s called Telecabinei in the first place.

The thing about Buşteni is that it’s not trying to be Brașov or Sinaia with all their tourist crowds. It’s more like that friend who knows all the good hiking trails but doesn’t brag about it. Hotel Silva fits right into this vibe – the staff actually knows the area (shocking, I know) and they’ll tell you which trails are muddy after rain or where to grab decent mici if you’re tired of hotel food. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but honestly, when you’re spending your days on mountain trails, you just need a good bed and a hot shower. The Wi-Fi works fine, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to check weather conditions for tomorrow’s hike.

What really sold me on this place was the morning routine. You wake up, look out your window, and there are the Bucegi peaks just sitting there like they’re posing for your Instagram – except way more dramatic than any photo captures. The breakfast is typical Romanian hotel fare, but they make a solid coffee and the local honey is actually local (not the fake stuff you get at some places). Parking’s included, which is clutch because finding a spot in Buşteni during hiking season can be… well, let’s just say it’s not fun. The hotel’s set back from the main road just enough that you don’t get the truck noise at night, but close enough that you can walk to the decent restaurants in town without needing a car. I mean, the walk to Pensiunea Capra Neagra takes maybe ten minutes, and their ciorbă de burtă is worth the trip alone. The 8.5 rating makes sense once you spend a night here – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises.
