Hotel Rezydencja AS & Spa-Najwyżej w Karpaczu
You know what struck me first about Hotel Rezydencja AS & Spa? The name’s a mouthful, sure, but that “Najwyżej w Karpaczu” part – it literally means “highest in Karpacz” – and they’re not kidding around. This place sits up on Przewodników Górskich street, which honestly feels like you’re already halfway up the mountain before you even start hiking. I mean, the views from here are something else entirely. You’re looking down at the whole town spread out below, and on clear mornings – well, let’s just say I spent way too much time on my balcony with coffee instead of getting ready for the day.
The hotel itself has this interesting mix going on. It’s officially 3-star, but honestly, it punches above its weight in ways that matter. The spa part isn’t just thrown in there for marketing – they’ve actually got a decent setup with a pool that overlooks the valley (though it can get busy during ski season, fair warning). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night up there. You’re removed from the main tourist drag where all the souvenir shops and restaurants cluster around the gondola station, but you’re not stranded either. The walk down to town takes maybe 10-15 minutes, and it’s actually pleasant – none of that steep mountain scrambling you might worry about. Plus, there’s decent parking, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Karpacz during peak season will tell you is basically gold.
The rooms are… well, they’re clean and comfortable without being fancy. Mine had this slightly retro vibe that felt intentional rather than outdated, if that makes sense. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for a mountain hotel, and the heating actually worked properly – not always a given in these older buildings. What really sells this place though is the staff’s local knowledge. The woman at reception (I think her name was Magda?) gave me these incredibly specific hiking recommendations that I never would have found online. She told me about this trail that starts basically from the hotel’s backyard and connects to the main Śnieżka route, but skips the most crowded section near the bottom. Game changer, honestly. With a 9.3 rating, you’d expect something special, and while it’s not luxury resort territory, it delivers on being exactly what a mountain hotel should be – a comfortable base that enhances your experience rather than just housing you. If you’re planning to actually explore the Karkonosze rather than just pose for Instagram photos, this spot gets it right.
