The building itself has this wonderful lived-in character that honestly makes some of those sterile chain hotels look ridiculous by comparison.

The rooms have that perfect balance of old-world charm and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find in a 3-star place. Sure, the floorboards creak a little when you walk around (actually adds to the charm, if you ask me), and the walls are thick enough that you don’t hear much from neighboring rooms – which is a blessing during summer when the place fills up with families. What really impressed me was the attention to small details… like, they’ve got these vintage-style light fixtures that actually provide decent reading light, and the beds are properly comfortable, not just pretty to look at. The bathrooms are updated but still feel authentic to the building’s character – none of that jarring ultra-modern stuff that makes you feel like you’re in a spaceship.

Location-wise, you’re about a five-minute walk to Council Square, but here’s the thing – you’re tucked away enough that you won’t deal with the late-night noise from all the restaurant terraces and bars. I actually walked to Tampa Mountain in the morning for sunrise, and it was an easy stroll through the old streets. The staff genuinely knows the area too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places just hand you a generic tourist map. They pointed me toward this little bakery two streets over that locals actually use – the kind of recommendation that makes a trip memorable. Parking can be a bit tricky (it’s the old town, after all), but they help you figure it out, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need your car much anyway.
