You know what caught me off guard about GórSKI Przystanek? The name sounds way more intimidating than the actual place – I mean, once you figure out you’re looking for apartment 9 on Droga Na Antałówkę 12, it’s actually this cozy little setup that feels more like staying at a Polish friend’s mountain retreat than a typical hotel.

The location is honestly perfect if you want that authentic Zakopane vibe without being right in the tourist chaos. You’re close enough to walk to Krupówki Street (maybe 15 minutes if you don’t mind the slight uphill trek), but far enough that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. The Antałówkę area has this residential feel where you’ll see locals heading to work in the morning, and there’s something really nice about that. Plus – and this matters more than you’d think – parking isn’t a nightmare here like it is closer to the center. I actually managed to find a spot without circling for half an hour, which in Zakopane is basically a miracle.

The apartments themselves (Parzenica and Rozeta – love that they have actual names) are what I’d call “mountain functional” in the best way possible. Nothing fancy, but everything works and it’s clean, which honestly puts it ahead of some pricier places I’ve stayed. The 9-star rating makes sense because while it’s definitely a 3-star property, they’ve clearly put thought into the details that matter. The heating actually works properly – crucial if you’re visiting in winter – and the kitchen setup is decent enough that you can make real meals instead of just instant noodles. I ended up cooking quite a bit because, well, eating out every meal in Zakopane adds up fast, and there’s a decent grocery store not too far away.

What really sold me on the place was how quiet it gets at night. You’re still in the mountains, so you get that crisp air and those sounds – or lack of sounds – that city people forget exist. During the day you can hear some activity from the other apartments, but it’s never intrusive. The whole building has this lived-in feel that’s way more comfortable than those sterile hotel rooms where everything’s bolted down. I mean, you can actually open the windows properly and hang your wet hiking gear somewhere it’ll dry overnight.

If I’m being completely honest, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the WiFi can be a bit spotty when the weather’s rough – but that’s pretty much par for the course in this part of Zakopane. What matters is that it’s a solid base for exploring the area, whether you’re planning to hit the trails or just wander around town. The price point makes sense too, especially considering you’re getting actual apartment space instead of a cramped hotel room. I’d definitely stay here again, particularly if I was planning a longer trip where having a proper kitchen and some extra space to spread out would make a difference.
