You know what caught me off guard about Giewont Residence? It’s tucked away on this quiet side street – Mocarni Boczna – but you’re literally a stone’s throw from all the action in Kościelisko. I mean, when you step out the front door, you can see Giewont mountain looming right there (hence the name, obviously), and honestly, the view alone makes the whole stay worth it.

The thing is, most people rush straight to Zakopane and deal with the crowds, but staying here in Kościelisko is actually genius. You get that authentic Tatra mountains vibe without the tourist chaos – well, except during peak skiing season when everywhere gets a bit mad. The building itself has this modern mountain lodge feel that doesn’t try too hard to be rustic, if you know what I mean. Clean lines, lots of wood and stone, but it feels warm rather than sterile. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven around this area in summer will appreciate. The rooms are spacious – I had one facing the mountains and would just sit there with my morning coffee watching the light change on the peaks. There’s something about the way the early morning mist clings to those slopes that makes you want to stay in bed an extra hour.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to detail that you don’t expect from a 4-star property. The staff actually knows the hiking trails (not just the obvious touristy ones), and they pointed me toward this incredible route up to Polana Chochołowska that I never would have found otherwise. The breakfast setup is solid – local mountain cheese, proper bread, none of that generic hotel buffet nonsense. And here’s a small thing that matters: the WiFi actually works throughout the building, which is rarer than you’d think in these mountain locations. The spa area is compact but well-designed, perfect for soaking tired muscles after a day on the trails. Honestly, with a 9-rating from guests, I expected it to be good, but it exceeded expectations in those little ways that make you want to come back. If you’re planning to explore the Tatras without dealing with Zakopane’s summer crowds or winter ski lift queues, this spot on Mocarni Boczna is pretty much perfect – close enough to everything but far enough away to actually relax.
