You know what struck me first about the Giewont Mountain View Apartment? The name actually delivers – and I mean really delivers. From the moment you step onto that little balcony, Giewont mountain is right there staring back at you, this massive limestone wall that honestly makes you feel pretty small in the best possible way. The apartment sits on Droga Do Walczaków, which is one of those quiet residential streets that locals love because it’s close enough to everything but far enough from the tourist chaos that swallows up Krupówki street during peak season.
The place itself feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental property – there’s this lived-in comfort that you don’t get in most hotels. The kitchen is properly equipped (I’m talking real knives and decent pans, not the usual tourist apartment junk), and the living space has these big windows that frame the Tatras perfectly. What I really appreciated was the attention to small details – good coffee, thick towels, and honestly, the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the apartment, which is more than I can say for some of the fancy hotels down in the center. The beds are comfortable too, though fair warning, if you’re here in summer you might want to crack a window since it can get a bit warm upstairs. Parking was surprisingly easy – there’s space right outside, which anyone who’s driven through Zakopane’s narrow streets will tell you is basically a miracle.
Here’s the thing about this location though – you’re maybe a 15-minute walk from the main drag, but that’s actually perfect. You can easily stroll down to grab oscypek from the market stalls or hit up one of the mountain huts for dinner, but when you come back at night, it’s genuinely quiet. I mean, you can hear actual birds in the morning instead of tour buses. The hiking trails are incredibly accessible from here too – the path up to Giewont starts practically around the corner, and if you’re into easier walks, the route toward Antałówka is gorgeous and not too challenging. During my stay in late spring, the apartment felt like this perfect base camp where you could actually relax between adventures. The hosts were responsive without being intrusive, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. Bottom line – if you want that authentic Zakopane experience with mountain views that’ll make your Instagram followers legitimately jealous, but you also want to sleep well and have space to spread out, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.
