You know what struck me first about Filek House? It’s tucked right on Strada General Magheru, and I mean *right* in the thick of Sibiu’s Old Town – but somehow it doesn’t feel like you’re sleeping in a tourist trap. The building itself has this understated charm that fits perfectly with the cobblestone streets around it, and honestly, the location is just ridiculous in the best way possible. You can literally stumble out the front door and be at the main square in about three minutes, but when you’re inside, you’re not dealing with the noise and chaos that usually comes with being so central.

The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully simple – nothing flashy, but everything works exactly like it should. The beds are actually comfortable (and I’m picky about this stuff), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the bathrooms are clean without being sterile. What really impressed me was the attention to small details that most 3-star places completely ignore. The windows have proper curtains that actually block light, there are enough outlets near the bed, and – this might sound weird – but the door locks feel solid and secure. You know how some hotels make you feel like you’re staying in a cardboard box? This isn’t that. The staff seems to genuinely care about the place, which shows in how well-maintained everything is.

Here’s the thing about staying in Sibiu’s Old Town – parking can be an absolute nightmare, especially during summer when the festivals are going full swing. Filek House actually helps you figure this out instead of just shrugging and pointing you toward some overpriced garage across town. The whole area gets pretty lively in the evenings (in a good way), but the rooms are quiet enough that you won’t be kept awake by drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. I stayed there in late spring, and mornings were perfect for grabbing coffee at one of the little cafes nearby before the day-trippers arrived. The Council Tower is basically around the corner, and you can hit all the main sights without ever needing a taxi or dealing with public transport. That 9.2 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be fancy, but it nails all the basics while giving you a genuine taste of staying in one of Romania’s most beautiful medieval towns. If you’re looking for a place that feels authentic without sacrificing comfort, and you want to actually experience Sibiu rather than just pass through it, this is honestly a solid choice.
