Est One Apartament 2 camere semidecomandat
You know what honestly surprised me about this place? It’s tucked away on Strada Cicero in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups haven’t figured out yet. I mean, Drobeta-Turnu Severin isn’t exactly on everyone’s Romanian bucket list, but that’s actually what makes Est One Apartament so refreshing – it’s real local living without the tourist markup.
The apartment itself is what Romanians call “semidecomandat” which basically means the rooms flow into each other a bit more than fully separated spaces. At first I thought this might feel cramped, but it actually creates this cozy, lived-in atmosphere that beats those sterile hotel boxes every time. The second bedroom is perfect if you’re traveling with family or friends who don’t mind a slightly more open layout. What really won me over was how thoughtfully everything’s set up – I’m talking proper hangers in the closets, decent water pressure (trust me, this matters in Romania), and a kitchen that’s actually equipped for cooking, not just reheating leftovers. The building itself is typical Romanian residential architecture, which means solid construction but you’ll need to buzz in through the main entrance – it’s B1, third staircase, second floor, apartment 9 if you’re keeping track.
Here’s the thing about the location that took me a while to appreciate: you’re genuinely living like a local here. There’s a small grocery store about two blocks down where the owner started recognizing me after three days, and the morning sounds are just neighborhood life – kids heading to school, not tour buses rumbling past at 7 AM. The Danube is maybe a fifteen-minute walk if you know the shortcuts through the residential streets, and honestly, that evening stroll became my favorite part of each day. Parking isn’t the nightmare you’d expect – there’s usually space on the street, though weekends can get a bit tight when everyone’s visiting family. The train station is close enough that you can hear the occasional whistle, but it’s more atmospheric than annoying. If you’re planning to explore the Iron Gates or Trajan’s Bridge ruins, you’re perfectly positioned without being stuck in the touristy center where everything costs twice as much. The apartment stays surprisingly quiet at night too – Romanian apartment buildings are built like fortresses, so you won’t hear your neighbors’ TV or late-night conversations. I stayed here during shoulder season and it felt like having a temporary home base rather than just another hotel room to endure.
