Epic rooms

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Epic rooms” I rolled my eyes a bit. I mean, come on, right? But actually staying here completely changed my tune. This little 3-star gem sits right on Strada Politehnicii, which honestly couldn’t be better positioned if you’re trying to explore Brașov without constantly calling taxis or figuring out the bus system.

The thing that struck me first was how quiet it is, considering you’re basically in the heart of everything. I mean, you’re walking distance from the old town – and I’m talking a real walk, not one of those “walking distance” situations where you need hiking boots and a protein bar. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re actually pretty epic, if you’ll forgive the pun. Clean lines, good lighting (thank god, because hotel lighting is usually terrible), and the beds are properly comfortable. Not fancy, but comfortable in that way where you don’t wake up feeling like you wrestled with the mattress all night. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed – someone clearly thought about how real people actually use these spaces.

What really won me over though was the attention to small details. The WiFi actually works everywhere, not just in the lobby. There’s proper blackout curtains, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag. And the staff – they know their stuff about Brașov. Not just the obvious tourist spots, but they pointed me toward this little coffee place around the corner that I never would have found otherwise. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven in Romanian city centers will appreciate. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. You know what I mean? Sometimes you stay places that promise the moon and deliver cardboard coffee and scratchy towels. This is the opposite of that. It’s a solid, well-run place where someone clearly cares about the guest experience without making a big show of it.
