You know what struck me first about elisio – Ninth Heaven? The name actually makes sense once you’re up there on the 9th floor. I mean, Brașov spreads out below you like this perfectly arranged postcard, and honestly, after climbing around the old town all day, there’s something pretty heavenly about that elevator ride up.
The location on Strada 13 Decembrie is one of those spots that locals know but tourists kind of stumble onto – it’s close enough to the action that you can walk to the main square in about ten minutes, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the restaurant crowds and street music until 2 AM. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of Brașov, sort of communist-era practical, but once you’re inside the actual hotel space, they’ve done something really nice with it. The 9.8 rating isn’t just inflated review nonsense either – I’ve stayed at plenty of 3-star places that felt like they were phoning it in, but this one actually pays attention to details. The rooms are clean in that way that makes you want to walk around barefoot, and the beds are firm enough that you don’t feel like you’re sinking into a marshmallow (which, let’s be honest, happens way too often in smaller hotels).
What I really appreciated was how they handle the whole check-in thing – no awkward waiting around while they figure out their system, and the staff actually knows the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations, not just the tourist trap stuff. They pointed me toward this little coffee place down the street that I never would have found otherwise. The view from the rooms facing the right direction is legitimately spectacular, especially if you’re there in the evening when the light hits the mountains just right. You can see why Brașov grew up in this valley – it’s like nature carved out this perfect little pocket for a city. The only minor thing is that the elevator is a bit slow, but honestly, when you’re on vacation, what’s the rush? And parking is actually doable around there, which anyone who’s driven in Romanian cities will tell you is not something to take for granted. I’d definitely stay here again, and I’m pretty picky about hotels – there’s something about places that get the basics right and then add just enough personality to make you remember them fondly.
