Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Elexus Apartments on Strada Doinașului, I wasn’t expecting much. I mean, Poiana Brasov can be hit or miss with accommodations, and apartment-style places sometimes feel like afterthoughts. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. You know what struck me first? The building itself has this clean, modern look that doesn’t try too hard to be fancy, but still feels solid and well-maintained. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward hovering while they figure out their system.
What really won me over was how thoughtfully everything’s set up inside. The apartments are genuinely spacious (not that fake “spacious” you see in photos), and honestly, the kitchenette situation is perfect if you’re staying more than a couple nights. I ended up grabbing groceries from the little market down the street and actually cooking breakfast a few times – something I rarely bother with on trips. The beds are properly comfortable too, which matters more than people think when you’re spending days on the slopes or hiking around Brasov. And speaking of the slopes, here’s the thing locals know but tourists often miss – you’re basically a five-minute walk from the main gondola lift, but far enough from the base area that you don’t get all the noise and chaos that comes with it. I could actually sleep in without hearing ski boots clattering on pavement at 7 AM.
The location is sort of perfectly positioned, if that makes sense. You’re right in Poiana Brasov, so you can walk to restaurants and the ski area easily, but you’re also close enough to hop in a car (parking was never an issue, by the way) and drive down to Brasov proper in about twenty minutes. I did that twice – once to see the old town square and once just to eat at this Romanian place someone recommended. The staff at Elexus seemed to actually know the area well, which was refreshing. When I asked about hiking trails, the woman at the front desk didn’t just hand me a generic brochure – she told me specifically which trail would be less crowded in the afternoon and warned me about a muddy section near the top. That’s the kind of detail that makes a difference. The whole place just feels like it’s run by people who care about doing things right, not just filling rooms. The 4-star rating feels accurate – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but everything works well and feels clean and comfortable. I’d definitely stay here again, and honestly, I’ve already recommended it to a couple friends planning trips to the area.
