Located right on Nicolae Balcescu, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the main square, but here’s the thing nobody tells you: the street actually gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, so you’re not dealing with tourist noise all night.

The building itself has this understated charm – I mean, it’s called “Dragon House” but don’t expect some kitschy medieval theme. It’s more like someone took a traditional Brașov townhouse and updated it thoughtfully. The rooms are what I’d call “properly sized” for a 3-star place (you’re not bumping into furniture every time you turn around), and the WiFi actually works throughout the building, which… let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in older Romanian buildings. What really sold me was the breakfast situation – they do this local cheese and ham setup that’s way better than the usual hotel continental spread, and the coffee doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since dawn. The staff speaks solid English, but they also don’t hover, which I appreciate.

Here’s what makes this place work: location without the location premium. You’re close enough to walk to Tampa Mountain’s base in about 15 minutes, and the Black Church is practically around the corner, but you’re not paying Council Square prices. Plus – and this is key if you’re driving – there’s actual parking nearby, either street parking that locals use (free after 6 PM) or a small lot about two blocks away. The 8.5 rating makes sense to me because it delivers on the basics really well without any major surprises, good or bad. I’ve recommended it to friends who wanted something reliable in Brașov’s old town, and none of them have complained. It’s not going to blow your mind, but honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
