You know what caught me off guard about Domek pod borówką? The name literally means “cottage under the blueberry,” and honestly, it’s not just some cutesy marketing thing – there are actually wild blueberry bushes scattered around the property. I mean, I wasn’t expecting to stumble across free snacks during my morning walk, but here we are.
This place sits right on Nad Lutynką street in Staniszów, which is this tiny village that most people probably drive through without stopping. But that’s actually the whole point. It’s tucked away in the Sudeten foothills where you can hear the Bóbr River if you listen carefully (especially at night when everything else goes quiet). The cottage itself has that proper mountain cabin feel – none of that fake rustic stuff you see everywhere. The wood creaks just enough to remind you you’re not in some sterile hotel, and there’s this earthy smell when you first walk in that’s probably from the pine beams. Parking is right there, which sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how many mountain places make you haul your luggage up some impossible hill.
What really gets me is how the owners seem to understand that people come here to actually disconnect. The Wi-Fi works fine if you need it, but there’s no pressure to be online constantly. The kitchen is properly stocked – I’m talking real pots and pans, not those flimsy things that can’t handle anything more complicated than instant noodles. And the windows… well, you wake up to views of the Karkonosze mountains that honestly make you want to just sit there with your coffee for way longer than you planned. The whole area gets pretty busy during hiking season (summer and early fall), but even then, Staniszów doesn’t feel overrun like some of the bigger mountain towns. In winter, it’s almost eerily quiet – in the best possible way. The only real downside is that you’ll need a car to get around, but that’s true for most places worth visiting in this region anyway. It’s about a 15-minute drive to Jelenia Góra if you need proper shops or restaurants, though honestly, the local grocery in the village has surprisingly decent basics.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
