You know what struck me first about Dom Sarnia 37? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Karpacz, but you’re literally a five-minute walk from all the main action around the town center. I mean, you can hear the buzz from the restaurants and bars when the wind’s right, but honestly, the place itself feels like a peaceful retreat. The building has this alpine charm that doesn’t feel forced – it actually fits with the whole Karkonosze mountain vibe rather than trying too hard to be some generic ski lodge. When I checked in, the owner seemed genuinely excited to share local hiking tips, which you don’t always get at bigger hotels. She mentioned this lesser-known trail that starts practically from their back door and connects to the main Śnieżka route – saved me probably an hour of walking through the crowded parts of town.
The room itself was… well, it exceeded expectations, honestly. Clean lines, mountain views (if you get the right room – ask when you book), and the bed was actually comfortable, not just hotel-acceptable. There’s this attention to detail that surprised me – like proper blackout curtains that actually block the early mountain sunrise, and the shower had real water pressure. Small things, but they matter when you’ve been hiking all day. The breakfast situation is solid too, though don’t expect a massive buffet. It’s more like what a well-organized Polish family would put together – fresh bread, local meats and cheeses, decent coffee. They source some ingredients locally, which you can taste in the cheese especially. Parking was straightforward (there’s a small lot behind the building), and the whole check-in process took maybe three minutes.
What really sells this place for me is the location within Karpacz itself. You’re close enough to walk to Wang Church – that weird Norwegian stave church that somehow ended up in the Polish mountains – and the cable car station for Kopa is maybe a ten-minute stroll. But you’re also positioned perfectly for the serious hiking routes without dealing with the tourist crowds that cluster around the main hotel strip. The 9.4 rating makes sense when you stay there; it’s not trying to be luxury, but everything they do, they do well. I’d definitely book again, especially during shoulder season when the rates drop but the mountains are still gorgeous. Just bring layers – those mountain evenings get chilly even in summer, and the room heating is good but not instant.
