You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places in the Sudetes, but Dom przy Wodospadzie Łomniczki is something else entirely. The name literally means “House by the Łomniczka Waterfall,” and honestly, they’re not exaggerating – you can actually hear the water from most of the rooms. It’s tucked right on Mostowa Street, which is this quiet little road that most tourists completely miss because they’re all rushing up to Śnieżka peak. I mean, Karpacz can get pretty hectic during ski season and summer hiking months, but this spot feels like you’ve found some secret hideaway that the locals have been keeping to themselves.
The thing that gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to keep it feeling authentic without being rustic in that uncomfortable way. You’ll walk in and there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details – the kind of stuff you notice when you’ve been bouncing between generic mountain hotels for years. The rooms have these thick wooden beams and you can tell they’re original, not some fake Alpine theme park nonsense. And the windows – honestly, the views are ridiculous. Depending on which room you get, you’re either looking out at the waterfall (which is absolutely worth requesting) or up toward the Karkonosze peaks. I stayed there in late September once and the morning light hitting the forest was just… well, it’s one of those moments where you actually understand why people write poetry about mountains.
What really sets it apart though is the location itself. Most people think Karpacz is just about the ski lifts and the Wang Church, but being on Mostowa puts you right in the sweet spot. You’re maybe a ten-minute walk from the main drag with all the restaurants and shops, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos. The trailheads for some of the better hiking routes are actually closer from here than from the center of town – there’s this path that starts basically behind the hotel that connects to the main Śnieżka trail, and hardly anyone knows about it. Parking’s never been an issue when I’ve been there, which is saying something because finding a decent parking spot in Karpacz during peak season is like winning the lottery. The family running the place clearly knows what they’re doing – check-in is smooth, they actually have useful local recommendations (not just the obvious tourist traps), and they seem to genuinely care that you have a good time. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels like a mistake.
