Dobryi Hutsul 2 turned out to be a pleasant surprise during our trip to the Carpathians. Located on Rudnieva Street in Mykulychyn, this three-star hotel truly lived up to its name — the staff here are genuinely kind and hospitable, like real Hutsuls. Check-in was quick (we arrived around four in the afternoon), and the hosts immediately told us about the best routes in the area. Parking is free right at the hotel — that’s a huge plus, especially in summer when there are lots of tourists in the mountains.
The rooms are clean and cozy, though without any particular frills — but that’s exactly what’s appealing about it. Hot water is always available, heating works well (important for spring and autumn trips), and you can see the mountains from the windows — what more do you need after a day of hiking? Breakfasts are homemade, delicious, with local products. The hostess makes incredible potato pancakes and serves real Carpathian milk. WiFi works fine, though in the mountains it can sometimes glitch — but that’s not the hotel’s problem, it’s the mobile operators’.
What I especially liked is that you can arrange transfers to the ski lifts or popular tourist spots. The hosts know all the trails and happily share advice about routes. In winter, they say, it’s very cozy — fireplace, herbal tea, and snowy Carpathians outside the window. The only downside — sometimes you can hear neighbors through the walls, but that’s typical for most hotels of this level in the region. For the money, it’s a wonderful place to relax in the mountains, especially if you value a homey atmosphere more than hotel gloss.
