Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Cubryna on ul. Paryskich – it’s this unassuming three-star place tucked away from the main tourist chaos, but you know what? Sometimes those are exactly the spots that surprise you. The location is actually brilliant if you know Zakopane at all – Paryskich runs parallel to the madness of Krupówki Street, so you’re close enough to stumble back from dinner at those tourist traps (we’ve all been there), but far enough that you’re not dealing with drunk groups singing Polish folk songs at 2 AM.
What really got me about this place was how the staff seemed to actually care about what they were doing. Check-in was smooth – none of that awkward hovering while they figure out the computer system – and the woman at reception gave me solid recommendations that weren’t just the obvious Gubałówka cable car nonsense. She pointed me toward this little pierogi spot on a side street that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms themselves are clean and well-maintained, nothing fancy but everything works properly, which honestly puts it ahead of some supposedly fancier places I’ve stayed in the Tatras. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case), and the bathrooms have proper water pressure – crucial after a day of hiking.
Here’s the thing about staying on Paryskich though – it’s quiet, really quiet compared to the center, but you’re still maybe a seven-minute walk from all the action. Perfect if you’re planning to hit the trails early since you can actually get some sleep, and parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to Krupówki. I stayed here in late September when the crowds were thinning out but the weather was still decent for hiking, and it felt like I’d found this little pocket of calm in what can be a pretty hectic town. The breakfast was simple but fresh – proper Polish bread, decent coffee, nothing Instagram-worthy but it’ll fuel you for whatever adventure you’re planning. I mean, with a 9-out-of-10 rating, they’re clearly doing something right, and after staying there I get it. It’s not trying to be some luxury mountain resort – it’s just a solid, well-run place where you can base yourself while exploring one of Poland’s most beautiful regions.
