Cottage “Karpatske Shale” turned out to be a real gem during our autumn trip to the Carpathians. This four-star establishment is located on quiet Partizanska Street in Yaremche, and while the name might seem a bit unusual, the place is truly special. The hosts welcomed us very warmly — check-in went smoothly, even though we arrived later than planned due to mountain fog. Parking is free right next to the house, which is very convenient, especially when you’re carrying lots of hiking gear.
The cottage itself looks like a real mountain homestead — wooden elements, cozy rooms with forest views, and that special atmosphere that’s hard to find in regular hotels. The rooms are quite spacious, bedding is fresh, and hot water was always available (which isn’t always a given in mountain areas). The only thing that might disturb light sleepers are the forest sounds at night, but for some people that might even be a plus. Breakfasts are homemade with local products — the mountain honey and fresh bread were especially memorable. The hosts also gave useful advice about local hiking routes and told us where to best buy souvenirs.
The location is perfect for those who want to experience the real Yaremche, not its touristy version. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk to the city center, but we mostly used our car. Autumn is particularly beautiful here — the yellow-red foliage around the cottage creates a fairy-tale atmosphere. The price-quality ratio is excellent, especially compared to the crowded hotels in the center. We’d come back here again, maybe even in winter — the hosts said the winter scenery here is incredible.
Bukovel hotels range from luxurious mountain resorts to cozy lodges with breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and alpine meadows.
