Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you’re not looking for them. The name literally means “Beautiful Hill” in Romanian, and they weren’t kidding around with that. The property sits on this gentle slope that gives you these sweeping views of the Buzău Valley that honestly make you forget you’re staying at what most people would consider a mid-range hotel.

What really got me was how the owners have managed to create something that feels genuinely local without trying too hard. The breakfast spread actually features proper Romanian mountain cheese and fresh bread from somewhere nearby – not the usual hotel chain stuff. And the rooms? Well, they’re not going to win any design awards, but they’re spotless and surprisingly quiet considering you’re right in the heart of Întorsura Buzăului. I mean, this is a town where the main excitement is usually the weekly market, so noise isn’t really an issue anyway. The beds are firm (which I appreciate after too many saggy hotel mattresses), and every room I’ve seen has these big windows that let in tons of natural light.

What strikes me most about this place is how it sits in the landscape – you’re literally surrounded by the Carpathian foothills, and on clear mornings you can see the mist rolling through the valleys while you’re having your coffee. The staff genuinely seems to know everyone in town, which comes in handy when you need directions to the local hiking trails or want to know which day the best produce shows up at the market. Parking is never an issue (trust me, in Romania’s mountain towns, this matters more than you’d think), and the whole property has this relaxed vibe that makes you slow down whether you want to or not. The 9.8 rating actually makes sense when you consider that people come here for the authentic experience, not flashy amenities. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night just because you’re not quite ready to leave the mountains yet.
