You know what struck me first about Cloud Studio? The name actually makes sense once you’re up there on the sixth floor – you’re literally floating above Sibiu’s red-tiled rooftops with these incredible views that make you forget you’re staying in what’s technically a 3-star place. I mean, that 9.2 rating isn’t just people being generous.
The location on Strada Regele Ferdinand is honestly perfect if you know Sibiu at all. You’re right in the thick of things but not dealing with the tourist chaos that hits the main squares during peak season. It’s one of those spots where you can walk to everything that matters – the old town, decent restaurants, those little cafés that locals actually use – but you’re tucked away enough that you’re not hearing street noise all night. The building itself is pretty typical Romanian residential (you know, Soviet-era practical), but once you’re inside the studio, it’s a completely different story. Someone clearly put thought into making this space work for travelers, not just slapping some furniture together and calling it a day.
What really gets me is how they’ve maximized every inch without making it feel cramped. The studio setup is smart – everything flows naturally from the sleeping area to the little kitchenette, and there’s actual storage space, which honestly is rare in these European city stays. The WiFi actually works (tested it thoroughly since I was working remotely), and the heating is solid, which matters more than you’d think during Sibiu’s winters. I stayed in October and it was perfectly comfortable even when temperatures dropped. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward waiting around or hunting for keys that you sometimes get with apartment-style accommodations.
Here’s the thing though – and this is probably why the rating is so high – it’s those little details that someone who’s actually traveled a lot would appreciate. The shower has proper water pressure, the bed is firm enough that you’re not sinking into some saggy mattress situation, and the kitchen setup actually lets you make real meals if you want to save some money or just eat something other than schnitzel for the fifth day running. Plus, being on Ferdinand Street means you’re close to some of the better grocery options if you’re planning to cook.
The view from up there, especially during golden hour, is honestly spectacular. You can see across the old town toward the Carpathian foothills, and in the morning you get this amazing perspective of Sibiu waking up – people heading to work, the markets setting up, that whole authentic city rhythm that you miss when you’re staying in some sterile hotel district. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to spend time in the room, not just crash between sightseeing marathons.
