Chalet Kukavica

Chalet Kukavica turned out to be a real discovery in the picturesque Scherbovets village — a place I initially couldn’t even find on the map! This four-star hotel is located in the heart of Transcarpathia, and when we finally made it there (GPS got a bit confused in the last few kilometers), I understood why it was worth the search. The Alpine chalet-style building looks like it was transported straight from the Austrian Alps, and the surrounding views are nothing but rolling green hills and forests, which are especially stunning in autumn when the leaves turn golden.

Parking is free and spacious (important if you’re driving your own car), and the staff welcomes you very warmly — you can feel that they truly care about their guests. The rooms are furnished with attention to detail: wooden furniture, cozy textile elements, and what particularly impressed me — floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic mountain views. It must be magical here in winter with the fireplace in the lobby, but I was there in summer, and it was wonderful to sit on the terrace with morning coffee, listening to the silence (only birds singing). Wifi works reliably, which is important for those who can’t completely disconnect from work.

Breakfast is a separate story: homemade dishes with local products, fresh cheeses, honey from their own apiary. The hosts happily share advice about the best hiking routes in the mountains — we followed their recommendation to a nearby waterfall and didn’t regret it. The nearest store is a bit far (about five kilometers), so it’s worth stocking up on essentials in advance, or simply rely on the hotel restaurant, which, by the way, prepares wonderful local dishes. The only downside — mobile service doesn’t work reliably for all carriers, but for a complete rest, that’s actually a plus.

Hotels in Bukovel offer convenient access to ski slopes, where guests can easily reach chairlifts, spa centers, and authentic Hutsul restaurants.
