Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of mountain places in Romania, but Cerbul Chalét really surprised me. It’s tucked away on Paraul Rece street in Râşnov – honestly, you’d drive right past it if you weren’t looking for the address. The whole setup feels more like stumbling onto someone’s really well-designed mountain retreat than checking into a typical hotel. When I pulled up, there was this immediate sense of… I don’t know, authenticity? The building actually looks like it belongs in the Carpathians, not like someone just slapped some fake alpine decorations on a concrete box.

What got me was how they’ve handled the wellness aspect without making it feel pretentious. The spa facilities are genuinely relaxing – I mean, after hiking around Râşnov Citadel all day, sinking into their treatment rooms felt perfect. The staff knows their stuff too, which you can’t always count on at three-star places. And here’s something practical nobody tells you: parking is actually easy here, unlike some of the places closer to the fortress where you’re circling around those narrow streets hoping for a miracle. The rooms themselves are solid – not luxury, but everything works properly and the mountain views from the upper floors are honestly spectacular on clear days. You wake up to actual forest sounds, not traffic noise.

The location is sort of ideal if you’re planning to explore this part of Brașov County. You’re close enough to walk to Râşnov’s center (maybe 15 minutes if you don’t mind the slight uphill trek back), but far enough out that you get that mountain quiet at night. Bran Castle is literally a 10-minute drive if you’re doing the whole Dracula tourist thing, and the hiking trails into the Bucegi Mountains are right there. I stayed during shoulder season in late spring, and honestly, that felt perfect – not crowded, reasonable prices, and the weather was ideal for both outdoor activities and just hanging out at the hotel’s wellness facilities when I wanted to decompress. The 8.3 rating makes sense once you’re there. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the mountain lodge thing really well with that bonus wellness component that actually delivers.
