You know what caught me off guard about Cedar Crest? The silence. I mean, you’re staying right in Valea Glajerie – which sounds more intimidating than it actually is – but step onto your balcony and it’s just… quiet. Like, properly quiet. The kind where you can hear the Râşnov River doing its thing down below, which honestly became my favorite background noise after a day or two.
The thing about this place is it sits in this sweet spot where you’re technically in the mountains but you’re not roughing it, you know? The rooms are actually spacious (I’ve stayed in enough cramped European hotels to appreciate this), and whoever designed them clearly understood that people want to see those views – floor-to-ceiling windows everywhere. The staff seems genuinely happy to be there, which makes a difference when you’re trying to figure out the best route to Bran Castle or whether it’s worth the drive to Braşov old town. Speaking of which, that drive is about fifteen minutes when there’s no traffic, maybe twenty-five when the tour buses are out in force during summer.
What really sold me on Cedar Crest was the attention to details that actually matter. The Wi-Fi works everywhere – and I mean everywhere, I tested it. The parking situation is sorted (thank god, because navigating those mountain roads with a rental car had me stressed enough). The breakfast setup runs until 10 AM, which is perfect if you’re not a morning person but still want to fuel up before hiking around Râşnov Citadel. And here’s something I didn’t expect – the soundproofing between rooms is excellent. I was worried about noise since the place seems popular with families, but I slept like a rock every night. The beds are firm without being punishing, and they’ve got this perfect weight to the blankets that just works. You’ll probably end up spending more time in your room than planned, just because it’s so comfortable and those mountain views are honestly addictive – especially around sunset when everything goes golden. The whole place has this relaxed vibe that makes you want to slow down and actually enjoy being somewhere instead of just checking boxes off a tourist list.
