What really sold me on Casa Sarti, though, is how it sits in Eşelniţa. Look, this isn’t Bucharest or even Drobeta-Turnu Severin – it’s a small Danube town that most people only know because of the hydroelectric plant. But that’s actually the point. You’re right on the water, the Iron Gates region is practically at your doorstep, and Serbia is literally across the river. The staff actually knows the area (shocking, I know) and can point you toward hiking trails or boat trips that aren’t in any guidebook. Plus, parking is never an issue – something anyone who’s tried to stay in Romania’s bigger cities will appreciate. The 9.9 rating honestly makes sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. If you’re exploring this part of the Danube valley and want a proper base camp rather than just a place to crash, Casa Sarti is going to spoil you for the usual roadside options.
