So I stumbled across Casa Roth during one of those “let’s just walk around and see what we find” afternoons in Brașov, and honestly? I’m kind of glad I wasn’t staying anywhere else. The place sits right on Strada Stephan Ludwig Roth – which, if you know the old center at all, puts you basically three minutes from Council Square but just far enough away that you’re not dealing with the weekend crowds stumbling back from the bars at 2 AM. The building itself has this quietly elegant thing going on, you know what I mean? Not flashy, but there’s something about the way they’ve restored it that feels authentic rather than trying too hard to be Instagram-perfect.

What actually surprised me was how much the staff seemed to genuinely know about the city. I mean, sure, every hotel gives you the standard tourist map, but the woman at reception (I think her name was Ana?) told me about this little bakery tucked behind the Black Church that I never would have found otherwise, and she was spot-on about when to hit Tampa for the cable car – apparently Tuesday mornings are dead quiet up there. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid three-star place, but they’ve got these little touches that make you feel like someone actually thought about your comfort. The beds are proper firm (thank god), and there’s decent water pressure in the shower, which honestly can be hit or miss in some of these older buildings. I stayed in a room facing the street, and while you get a bit of morning traffic noise, it’s nothing too dramatic – certainly quieter than anywhere closer to Republicii.

The breakfast situation is… well, it’s continental, so don’t expect anything revolutionary, but the coffee’s actually decent and they usually have some local honey that’s worth loading up on. What I really appreciated was how easy everything felt – checking in was quick, they held my bags after checkout so I could wander around for a few more hours, and when I needed directions to the train station, they just drew me a little map instead of giving me some complicated explanation. You know how some places feel like they’re performing hospitality versus just being genuinely helpful? Casa Roth definitely falls into the latter category. For the price point and that 8.3 rating, I’d say it’s pretty much exactly what it promises to be – a comfortable, well-located base for exploring Brașov without any unnecessary fuss or pretension. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying somewhere with character but don’t need a spa or room service, this is probably your spot.
