Casa Rei Overview
You know what really caught me off guard about Casa Rei? I was expecting just another roadside place when I pulled up on Strada principală – honestly, the address doesn’t sound like much – but this little gem sits right in the heart of Vidolm and somehow manages to feel both authentic and welcoming without trying too hard. The building itself has this unpretentious charm that’s become pretty rare in Romania’s tourist spots, and when the owner greeted me at check-in, it felt more like visiting a relative than staying at a hotel.
What really makes this place work is how it captures that perfect sweet spot between local character and actual comfort. The rooms are thoughtfully put together – nothing fancy, but everything works properly (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in smaller Romanian towns). I mean, the shower actually had good water pressure, the WiFi didn’t cut out every ten minutes, and the bed was genuinely comfortable instead of that rock-hard mattress situation you sometimes get. The breakfast spread features local ingredients, and they actually know how to make proper coffee, which saved my mornings. What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night – Vidolm isn’t exactly a party town anyway, but you can actually sleep with the windows open and just hear the occasional car passing by.
The staff genuinely knows the area, too, which made all the difference when I was trying to figure out day trips. They pointed me toward some hiking trails I never would’ve found on my own and gave me the real story about which local restaurants are worth the walk versus which ones are just coasting on location. Parking is right there (no hunting around the block), and honestly, for a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight. The 9.3 rating isn’t just inflated reviews from people’s relatives – this place actually delivers on being a comfortable, authentic base for exploring this part of Brașov County. If you’re driving through the area or using Vidolm as a jumping-off point for the mountains, Casa Rei is exactly the kind of place you hope to stumble across but rarely actually find.

Beautiful location with nice view, just us and the nature, no pollution, just the birds singing. Everything you need was there, fridge-freezer, barbeque, gas cooker, all the utilities, nice and spacious bedrooms with super king beds, hot tub, really everything.
Tünde from Hungary
The hosts are very friendly and hospitable, they even baked some delicious cake for us. The hot tub is really great.

Casa Rei is an ordinary village house heated with wood. The accommodation itself is very simple and clean. It has good parking and nice garden. Do not expect luxury, but enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the incredible hospitality of the owners. They prepared a hot tub for us and cooked delicious homemade dinners. Thank you for your care. :)

Very nice location, very nice and friendly host and the hot tub was awesome.
Although the conditions are pretty basic at the moment, it was a very good deal for the price. The house was as stated in the description.

Gazda foarte primitoare.
