You know what hit me first about Casa din Livada? The name literally means “House in the Orchard” – and honestly, they weren’t kidding around. This place sits right on Strada Piatra Craiului (that’s Piatra Craiului Street for non-Romanian speakers), and you’re basically nestled between the Carpathian foothills with actual fruit trees dotting the property. I mean, when’s the last time you stayed somewhere that you could hear birds instead of traffic when you opened your windows in the morning?
The thing about Predeluţ is that most people have never heard of it, which is exactly why Casa din Livada works so well. It’s this little commune about 20 minutes from Râşnov – you know, where the famous citadel is – but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tour bus crowds. The owners clearly know their stuff because they’ve managed to hit that sweet spot between rustic charm and actually having decent wifi (trust me, I checked). The rooms have this lived-in authenticity without feeling like you’re roughing it, and the bathrooms are surprisingly modern. Actually, I was impressed by how quiet it stays at night – no highway noise, just the occasional dog barking in the distance, which somehow feels comforting rather than annoying.
What really sets this place apart though is how it connects you to the area without trying too hard. The staff – and I think some of them might be family members, honestly – know exactly which hiking trails to recommend based on your fitness level, and they’ll actually draw you a little map instead of just pointing vaguely toward the mountains. Plus, they’ve got this thing figured out with local suppliers, so breakfast feels like you’re eating at someone’s grandmother’s house rather than from a hotel buffet. The parking situation is refreshingly straightforward too – just pull up and you’re done, none of that circling-the-block nonsense you get in bigger towns. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and the whole experience felt authentically Romanian without being performative about it, if that makes sense. It’s the kind of place where you actually end up talking to other guests because everyone’s genuinely excited about exploring the Piatra Craiului National Park area, rather than just checking things off a tourist list.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
