The owners – and I’m guessing Andreea is one of them, though I never confirmed this – clearly live and breathe hospitality in that genuine Romanian way that makes you feel like a welcomed guest rather than just another booking number. The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in quality without being shabby, if that makes sense. Everything’s clean and thoughtfully arranged, but it doesn’t feel sterile like some of those chain places. Actually, the breakfast setup really impressed me – they serve local specialties alongside the usual fare, and the coffee is surprisingly good (something I’ve learned not to take for granted in smaller Romanian towns). The whole check-in process was refreshingly straightforward too – no complicated key cards or confusing elevator systems, just simple efficiency.

Vatra Dornei has this laid-back spa town vibe that grows on you, especially if you’re coming from Bucharest or somewhere hectic. The thermal springs are obviously the main draw, but honestly, I found myself just enjoying the slower pace and the mountain air. Casa Andreea gives you a proper base for day trips into the surrounding Carpathian foothills – the kind of scenery that makes you understand why people get obsessed with this part of Europe. And here’s something practical: parking is actually manageable here, which anyone who’s driven through Romanian towns will appreciate. The 9.8 rating might seem almost too good to be true, but after staying there, it makes sense. It’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be fancy but gets all the fundamentals right, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
